NOTICE OF 2017 TAX YEAR PROPOSED PROPERTY TAX RATE FOR CITY OF TIOGA
A tax rate of $0.540992 per $100 valuation has been proposed for adoption by the governing body of the City of Tioga. This rate exceeds the lower of the effective or rollback tax rate, and state law requires that two public hearings be held by the governing body before adopting the proposed tax rate.
The governing body of the City of Tioga proposes to use revenue attributable to the tax rate increase for the purpose of hiring another police officer.

EFFECTIVE TAX RATE $0.487599/$100
ROLLBACK TAX RATE $0.526606/$100
The effective tax rate is the total ta rate needed to raise the same amount of property tax revenue for City of Tioga from the same properties in both the 2016 tax year and the 2017 tax year.
The rollback rate is the highest tax rate that City of Tioga may adopt before voters are entitled to petition for an election to limit the rate that may be approved to the rollback rate.

Proposed Budget for the City of Tioga for the 2017-2018 Fiscal Year
The City Council of the City of Tioga will hold a public hearing on September 11, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall, 600 Main Street, Tioga, Texas to receive public comment on the proposed budget for the 2017-2018 fiscal year. This budget will raise more revenue from property taxes than last year’s budget by $44,546 or 17.65%, and of that amount, $18,089 is tax revenue to be raised from new property added to the roll this year.
