NOTICE OF 2019 TAX YEAR PROPOSED PROPERTY TAX RATE FOR THE CITY OF TIOGA

A tax rate of$0.525469 per $100 valuation has been proposed for adoption by the governing body of CITY OF TIOGA. This rate exceeds the lower of the effective or rollback tax rate, and state law requires that two public hearings be held by the governing body before adopting the proposed tax rate.

The governing body of CITY OF TIOGA proposes to use revenue attributable to the tax rate increase for the purpose of street repairs.

 

PROPOSED TAX RATE                    $0.525469 per $100

PREDEDING YEAR’S TAX RATE   $0.537071 per $100

EFFECTIVE TAX RATE                    $0.486546 per $100

ROLLBACK TAX RATE                    $0.525469 per $100

The effective tax rate is the total tax rate needed to raise the same amount of property tax revenue for CITY OF TIOGA from the same properties in both the 2018 tax year and the 2019 tax year.

The rollback tax rate is the highest tax rate that CITY OF TIOGA may adopt before voters are entitled to petition for an election to limit the rate that may be approved to the rollback rate.

First Hearing: August 26,2019 at 7:00 pm at Tioga City Hall, 600 Main St., Tioga TX.

Second Hearing: September 5, 2019 at 7:00 pm at Tioga City Hall, 600 Main St., Tioga TX.

 

CITY BOARDS AND COMMSSIONS

The City of Tioga has several Boards and Commissions that are ran by volunteers who are appointed by the City Council. These include the Tioga Industrial Development Board, the Tioga Economic Development Board, and the Planning a Zoning Commission. The City also appoints a representative to serve on the Board of the Texoma Housing Partners.

We currently have available positions on the Planning and Zoning Commission and the Texoma Housing Partners Board with other positions that may be available soon.

Citizen Participation & Grievance Procedures Notice

The City of Tioga has adopted complaint and grievance procedures regarding its Texas Community Development Block Grant Programs (TxCDBG). Citizens may obtain a copy of these written procedures at 600 Main Street, Tioga, Texas 76271 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Citizens may also request the procedures be mailed to them by calling Donna Carney, City Secretary at 940-437-2351. These procedures outline the steps for a citizen to follow if s/he wishes to file a complaint or grievance about TxCDBG activities.

A person who has a complaint or grievance about any services or activities with respect to the TxCDBG project, may during regular business hours submit such complaint or grievance, in writing to the City of Tioga, at P. O. Box 206, Tioga, TX 76279 or may call 903-437-2351. The City of Tioga will make every effort to respond fully to such complaints within fifteen (15) working days where practicable.
